Everyday Grocery Savings- Grocery Cart Savings on Lunchmeat

I love tips for saving on groceries! Here's a tip for buying lunchmeat I discovered recently.
It applies to sliced ham in particular.

While grocery shopping at Walmart the other day I was in the lunchmeat section comparing prices. After much thought, I selected a one pound package of Land O' Frost sliced ham priced at 24.9 cents an ounce. Then I proceeded on to the meat section to check out the half hams. While there I noticed a one pound package of Farmland sliced ham, virtually identical to the ham I had just put in my cart, but it was 20.4 cents an ounce. That's a savings of 4.5 cents an ounce!

Needless to say, I returned my initial choice to the lunchmeat section. Lesson learned. From now on I'm buying my sliced ham for sandwiches from the meat section. Do your own price comparison. You may be surprised at the price difference too. *smile*
